Do you serve buffet during the winter??
Nice boutique restaurant. Great food. Neat building and antiques.
Fun, great food. Worth the drive!
Most wonderful place to be during the winter (anytime really) next to a wood stove with delicious homemade food! The warm applesauce with orange zest makes your tummy smile!!
MoreWe come here at least once a year. My family loves this place so much. Dont think they have a card reader so bring cash. Try the applesauce and buy some blackberry jam if you can. Explore every nook and cranny that you can while you wait for your food. I havent had a chance to stay in their bed and breakfast but im planning to do so soon. Honestly you wont be disappointed to come here. explore the rest of the town after you eat here, its a small town but its a wonderful place to check out.
MoreThe waiting was long and terrible, and the food was also terrible. The people before us left 3/4 of their meal. I’m not a picky eater and I hated this place. My whole entire family hated it. I DO NOT RECOMMEND!
MoreGreat place for lunch after a Sunday drive.
Great food in a little town in the middle of nowhere. A great day trip
Authentic and amazing food and environment. One of our go to and favorite places to eat and well worth the beautiful drive, no matter where you are located. Highly recommend!
MoreService was so friendly, the place is absolutely charming, food was great, and omg the homemade bread
MoreThe food was great. I still can't get their chicken out of my head, I would Love to have that recipe. Reminds me of a family reunion. $18 a plate when I was there, honestly worth it just for the experience.
MoreCall ahead on Sunday and hit the buffet! I've been there a lot and never had a bad meal. It is so interesting looking around the place. There is a geocache in front of the library also. This is an awesome place! If I could give them a 6th star I would.
MoreVery historic Swiss community. Very laid back, like stepping back in history. The people are very nice. While there drive a little farther down the road to Pickens Wv and step back into time to an old coal town. The festival's they have are wonderful.
MoreGood food good manegment
Beautiful little restaurant. Friendly staff, great food!
Quaint, quiet, excellent authentic food.
Sundays they only have buffet. We just stopped hoping to get a peice of pie and coffee. Buffet was $25 each. We didn't stay.
MoreGreat food, beautifully original locations
Great people, great food and cold beer! The atmosphere is like walking into Grandma's house. Definitely a must see! The only downside is CASH OR CHECKS ONLY!
MoreA hidden gem in West Virginia found after a long scenic drive. Very friendly staff, decent food. No you don't need to speak German.
MoreVery unique dining experience. Service was good. Food was good. Great atmosphere of an old time house that was like a museum. They do not accept debit or credit cards so have cash or a checkbook. The nearest ATM is miles away.
MoreGood food . great service . real old time motif
The cheese, apple sauce, and sauerkraut were all to die for. So worth going to if you're in the area.
MoreA cute little family restaurant tucked away in the mountains of West Virginia. Came here during the recent Fasnacht festival and had a great time, was a bit of a wait on this particular day though. Other days I don't see it being a problem.
MoreSlow service but delicious food and worth the wait!
Fantastic traditional food.
Wonderful food and such an enjoyable time touring each room. A+ experience!
Absolutely incredible! So delicious and wonderful atmosphere. I wish I was able to come more often!
MoreIn the heart of the West Virginia mountains, this historic oasis of a restaurant serves traditional Swiss meals (the original settlers were from Switzerland). The homemade sausage is to die for! The service makes you feel like family and the food is fantastic. Then take a walk, look for the large trout in the river that runs next to the restaurant. Don't miss the post office/general store down the street, and pick up locally made honey, candles, etc. Come back for the Fasnacht Festival (videos on YouTube) in the spring, when the locals bring out the mountain music and everyone has fun scaring off old man winter. Enjoy the beautiful winding mountain roads getting there too. A great place to get away from it all, wifi but no cell service. It's a destination!
MoreThis place is FANTASTIC!! Everyone is so nice, and the place feels less like a restaurant and more like having an awesome home cooked meal at a friend's house. And the food? It is just the best!! Their prices are awesome and the meals I have had there have been completely amazing. I wish I could give this place even more stars because it is seriously awesome!! If you're thinking about going here sometime, don't think about it any longer, GO! You will not be disappointed!!
MoreBeautiful atmosphere long but beautiful drive.
My favorite restaurant ever! Great home cooked food in a wonderful atmosphere. The Sunday buffet is amazing. Well worth the trip!
MoreSweet little Swiss restaurant nestled in the hills of WV. Atmosphere was nice with antique decorations and food was good. Cash or check only though.
MoreAtmosphere-niceDecor niceSmell before you entered the building- mouthwatering.Food excellent. A very good change from the norm. This was the sunday buffet with 4 entrees, various vegetables, bread and a salad. One of the entrees was bratwurst and it was perfect. There was a chicken dish, a roast with a unique flavor and a meatball style dish. All were excellent. For dessert, peach cobbler was served and it was definitely homemade. Excellent!!Would love to return
MoreAwesome food.Super friendly staff.Very peaceful
Eh, food was fair at best and over priced. The place is very rustic. It was like going into a 1920s farmhouse for a meal and I recognized that might be the appeal for some. Overall experience was not terrible but it's not a place I would go back to.
MoreThe food is great. All home cooked. The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable. Great place to eat. Plan on spending part of a day there and enjoy all the history of the area. Fascinating!
MoreThe enviroment is charming and peaceful and the staff...welcoming. Food is always good, though today the chicken was a bit dry, and several of the other foods were a bit too sweet...especially when eating together on the same plate. I wish the carrots were cooked less and had less brown sugar, but that may be my own taste. The sausage, sauerkraut, bratwurst, green beans, pickled beets, fresh cheese, applesauce...all spot on. Potatoes good but I recommend a little butter..which is easily rectified with butter on the table. Sweet tea and coffee were great..coupled with fresh cream for coffee..and that homeade peach cobbler with fresh made whipping cream and a hint of nutmeg...you simply cannot ask for better!
MoreCan't wait for this restaurant to reopen!
My favorite restaurant in the world. Best Sunday buffet ever with fresh food cooked by awesome people that are inspired and wonderful. Only drawback is the windy road to Helvetia. You might want to bring some Dramamine.
MoreLove their Sunday German style Down Home Dinners. Very friendly staff. Great authentic atmosphere. I believe you can stay the night in upstairs bedrooms:)
MoreOne of the best restaurants anywhere. Sunday buffet is a truly amazing experience.
MoreWonderful people working there. Great place to eat. The history of the place is educational. We went there again today. Always good
MoreThe price of the food ranges from cheap to expensive, but the portions are very good. The service was alright but the food was phenomenal. I will come back to Helvetia and eat there. The only problem is that I am not entirely sure that this restaurant is 100 % percent authentic Swiss restaurant. I will write a follow up post if I get a chance to go to Switzerland and eat Swiss food.
MoreFound this gem while out exploring new roads last week on the motorcycle. I was blown away by the quality of food and friendly service. 20$ for the buffet seemed a bit high but the food was really great. Headed there again this weekend with two friends. Wish the menu items were available on Sundays but not gonna complain. Keep up the great work.
MoreBeautiful place and I'm sure the food would be amazing. The price was a little too much but understandable. Due to the location and process of how they provide services. Wasnt prepared for 50.00 for two people. But, VERY gorgeous and welcoming.
MoreAbsolutely outstanding. The food was great, fresh and the right amount. The restaurant itself is just full of little pieces of history of the town and the staff is very friendly and efficient.
MoreThis place is much more than just a place to eat - it is a step back in time to another world that no longer exists elsewhere. It is well worth the drive out here, quite literally in the middle of nowhere particular. The food is fabulous, the ambiance is unmatched, the service makes you feel like part of family. Not to be missed, just do it!
Morei give this a 0/5 this places food sucks very badly. the bathroom there was too small and banging the door each time was ridiculous. way too over priced for a tiny selection of food. i would never recommend anyone to go to this place in a million years.
MoreDrove 2.5 hours to try this place and got to the game farm at French Creek. Unfortunately they were just having a sampler, but it was good. Maybe someday we will make it back for buffet or when they have the full menu available. Neat place to expierience.
MoreAmazing restaurant. They have a ton of what I would guess are authentic home style dishes. The food is served in a potluck style so you get a chance to enjoy all the different flavors.
